If you haven’t been to Barrett you might not know much about this event. Barrett Junction is a race thrown approximately one a year in the Southern California desert about a stone’s throw from the Mexican border. For most people it’s quite a drive just to get there, but it’s .
And what a road it is. This twisting strip of road winds its way down through beautiful wilderness past boulders and chaparral. But if you need to know one thing about Barret it’s this: you have never seen pavement like this before. It is cracked and gnarled, spotted with holes and cut with CAT tracks. This isn’t a road so much as a barely rideable surface, but it’s rideable.
This year the racing was as tight and exciting as ever, including John Rogers, Zak Maytum, and Scott Lembach. But in the end three young bucks from the LA area walked away with the podium, with Tim taking first on Magic Racing Bearings and Bearing Spacers. Congrats to Mark and Jacob for 2nd and 3rd, see you guys there next year!
